McFarland Senior Center
In the mid 1980’s, Norman Gehrt and Harold Feyh worked on a government grant to construct the McFarland Senior Center. This building, much of which was constructed by using volunteer labor; was built on the site of the old Methodist Church. Much of the lumber came from the old church.
This building is used for many activities and run by the Seniors of our community as a nonprofit organization.
This organization meets the first Friday of every month for noon lunch and a meeting. They play cards every Monday night, and during certain parts of the year, the ladies work on their quilting projects.
The Transportation Van for Wabaunsee County is secured through this organization on the second and fourth Thursdays of every month.
This facility can be reserved for family activities and get togethers by contacting Mildred Schmanke at (785) 765-3697. A free will donation will be accepted.
Mildred is the contact person for the activities mentioned above. Everyone in the community is encouraged to participate, so please give her a call and find out the latest details.
This is a facility that we are all very proud of and we all hope you will enjoy it for many years to come.
